What kinds of Security Screen Doors are available?

Aluminium Security Screens

Less common but available are Aluminium Security Screens. These are usually 2mm thick aluminium sheets with holes punched throughout. The sheet is then powder coated to protect against corrosion. Aluminium is naturally less prone to corrosion than steel.

Structural Grade 304 Stainless Steel Security Screens

304 Stainless Steel Security Screens are quite common, they are very strong being structural grade stainless steel. It is extremely strong due to its tensile strength. Even though it is not marine grade, they are usually treated with a polymer coating or powder coating to aid with corrosion resistance. Structural grade stainless steel is generally 0.9mm thick. The mesh can be wedged into the frame or even screwed into making it even more secure.

These kinds of security screens have excellent corrosion resistance which equals great rust protection and long lasting durability especially in our climate on the Gold Coast where sea breeze blows salty air. The T316 Marine Grade Steel Mesh is powder coated to further increase its corrosion resistance. The mesh is usually 0.8mm thick which means it cannot be kicked in or cut with a knife. The mesh is then fixed to a steel or aluminium frame using a wedge. The frame can then be powder coated in a colour to suit your home.
