Security Screens Gold Coast
Security screens can be installed for both your doors and windows. They will provide you and your family safety and peace of mind and will give you the best possible protection against predators. As well as providing an exceptional high level of safety they will still allow fresh air into your home and protect you from mosquitoes and other insects.
Security screen doors and windows are generally made from 3 materials. Aluminium, stainless steel and steel. Aluminium and stainless steel are the most common used and sometimes you will find some made from steel. These materials will all offer security to your home but the thing you need to look for is to make sure they meet the Australian standards . To meet these standards the following should have been tried and tested on each screen.
- having someone attempt to kick in the door
- trying to lever open the door with a 300m screw driver
- having a large man forcible open a locked security screen door
The highest protection material a security screen can be made from is heat strengthen aluminium. Aluminium is a great choice for your screen doors as it is extremely strong and resistant to corrosion. Even with its resistency to corrosion you still need to make sure it has been powder coated.
Stainless steel is a common option for your security screens but the look of this material is what turns customers away. It is very strong and can even protect you from someone trying to cut it open. If this is your preferred material but you do not like the look you can choose to go for a thicker mesh which won’t give it that grille look.
Steel is more prone to corrosion which is why it is the least popular out of the 3 materials. If steel is powder coated and galvanised it will work just as well with a very high level of protection.
How much do Security Screen’s cost?
The cost of security screens can range depending on a number of reasons including the size of your windows and doors, do any doors or tracks need to be fully replaced? and is it a straight fowrard install ? or is there work that needs to be done before the install can take place.
An estimate of what costs can range from are as follows
- $200 or more for a small window screen
- $350-$450 each for larger windows
- $700 or more for a door entry screen
- $5,000 plus for a full patio enclosure
Ask the company you choose if your quote includes installation and always ask if they can do a special price for multiple installs.
When choosing your security screens it comes down to personal preference on material, level of safety, appearance and cost. Always remember to check they have been tested to Australian standards and do your research when you receive your quotes to ensure you are getting the correct prices.
